CEC Pride Alliance “From Acceptance To Celebration”
Congregation Etz Chaim’s Pride Alliance was established to help foster an embracing community for all of our members and guests, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. CEC is committed to educating and creating awareness around LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, etc.) subjects, promoting allyship, and celebrating the intersection of Judaism and Queerness. These efforts include programs and collaborations, as well as resources and information. The CEC Pride Alliance is collaborating with prominent Jewish organizations supporting the LGBTQ+ community, including:
SOJOURN (The Southern Jewish Resource Network for Gender and Sexual Diversity)
You may notice the LGBTQ Safe Zone sticker at the entrance to our building and on the home page of our website. Individuals of any age should feel comfortable and fully accepted within the synagogue. Feel free to speak with Rabbi Dorsch, Executive Director Marty Gilbert, Director of Education Debbie Deutsch, and our educators about their feelings, issues, or concerns in complete confidence.
If you want to join the CEC Pride Alliance or have any suggestions, please get in touch with Marty Gilbert.
In June 2023, our Rabbinic Fellow, Rabbi Jonathon Adler, gave a Drash for Pride Shabbat at Temple Beth-Hillel-Beth El in Wynnewood, PA. Here is a link to the video:
